Sports Injury

Sports Injury

Often, that means injuries happen during sports. These injuries can be debilitating and prevent you from getting back on the field. That is why it is important to stay one step ahead on injuries through the right chiropractic care. At Stock Chiropractic Wellness Center in Punta Gorda, FL, our chiropractor is dedicated to helping people with a variety of sports and other injuries in order to alleviate their pain and get them back in the game.

Preventing Sports Injuries

The more serious a person is about their participation in a sport, the more likely an injury will occur. That is why it is so important that athletes keep close attention to their conditioning in order to prevent injuries. At Stock Chiropractic Wellness Center, we can help with that -- even if you haven't sustained any injury.

While there are medical terms for various sports injuries, many are more widely known by their sports-related name, even if the person suffering from them never actually participated in the sport. Some of these include

  • Runner's knee
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Golfers Elbow
  • Pitcher's Shoulder

They can also include injuries like tendonitis, shoulder injuries, ankle injuries, and even neck injuries and headaches or concussions. Avoiding injury means playing with strength, skill, and intelligence. It means knowing when to rest and when to condition. At Stock Chiropractic Wellness Center we aim to help you with that as well as treating the injuries as they come.

Treating Specific Injuries

You don't need to be an athlete to suffer from sports injuries. Even activities such as gardening or typing.

Strains/Sprains

A sprain is a stretch or tear of a ligament, a strain is a stretched muscle or tendon. Strains commonly happen in areas such as the hip flexors, the ACL ligaments in the knees, and in the hamstrings.

Nerve Injuries

Nerve injuries happen, including sciatica, when a slipped disc causes pinching of the sciatic nerve, which causes pain throughout the lower back, buttocks, and the back of the legs.

Head Injuries

Contact sports, like hockey or football, are more likely to result in headaches or concussions.

Treating injuries comes from a combination of adjustments, exercises, rest, application of heat and cold, and nutritional guidance, and is as specific and individualized as each patient.
